Maria Danson is the Salon Manager and owner of The Hound Dog Grooming Spa in the heart of Marple, Stockport. Having always had a passion for animals she began grooming in 2011, she attained her City & Guilds Certificate in Dog Grooming in 2013 and then continued to complete her City & Guilds Level 3 Professional Stylist Diploma in 2015.
She spent 2 years managing a salon in Knutsford alongside a busy veterinary practice. The time there was invaluable as Maria gained a wealth of knowledge. She then went on to open her own salon in 2017, with the idea of it being a welcoming environment, clean and safe for the dogs and open view so customers could happily watch them being groomed. The products she uses are ethical, cruelty free and vegan friendly, she uses the best state of the art equipment and sells a range of ethical accessories and produce.
Maria is continuing her professional development and will begin undertaking her ICMG (International Certified Master Groomer) qualification. She regularly attends seminars, workshops and grooming competitions throughout the country.
She also owns Atastar in Love Again, aka Margot a beautiful Standard Poodle, who is in her debut year of showing. This is a whole other avenue of dog styling, behaviour and etiquette but is a tremendous commitment and involves a lot of hard work, dedication and will only help Maria become a better grooming stylist.
The industry is constantly evolving, and Maria feels it is very important to keep up with current trends and to continue to provide the highest standards in the pet grooming industry for her clients.

“Maria has groomed Peggy, our cocker spaniel, since she was a puppy. Maria recommended that we introduce Peggy to the sights, sounds, and smells of the salon from a young age. Peggy is now always happy to see Maria, and she looks immaculate and smells gorgeous when we come to collect her”
